In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Manchester City are in pole position to recruit Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic. It is understood that the Mancunian giants would have to compete with Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to land the Serbia international who could be available for a fee of €45m.
Vlahovic’s Excellent Start To This Serie A Campaign
The former Partizan talent has been a joy to watch for the Florence outfit as he has already produced a few eye-catching displays in Italian football this season. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net on six occasions and grabbed one assist in eight appearances for the Italian side this term across multiple competitions.
Vlahovic has proven himself to be an excellent contributor in the attacking third of the pitch based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in this Serie A campaign. However, he has struggled to distribute the ball accurately deep inside the opponent’s half after making 71.6% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
The way Vlahovic has been playing of late, he seems like a great long-term option for Man City to consider during the January transfer window or next summer. He will go a long way in filling the void left by Sergio Aguero’s departure from the Etihad Stadium earlier this year.

Vlahovic has taken great strides towards improving himself this season as he is slowly but surely beginning to prove his value as a composed finisher in front of the opposition goal. Standing at 1.90m, he can make full use of his strong frame to hold possession up for his team and has even got the vision to play a decisive pass in and around the opponent’s penalty area.
We can expect Vlahovic to add some goals and creativity to Pep Guardiola‘s attacking department. Man City need to inject more firepower into their frontline in January if they are to beat Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to secure the Premier League title.
Vlahovic fits the bill perfectly as he has what it takes to secure a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium for years to come. With all things considered, the Serbian sensation will be a clever signing for the Mancunian giants in the long run but only if he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
