In a recent print edition, La Nazione claimed that Manchester City are ready to offer Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic a lucrative contract. It is believed that the Mancunian outfit are planning to offer the Serbian centre-forward €6m per season (after tax) to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.
Vlahovic’s Outstanding Start To This Serie A Campaign
Vlahovic has begun this campaign on fire as he has already produced some influential displays as the focal point of Fiorentina’s attack. The 21-year-old has registered six goals and one assist in eight matches for the Italian outfit this season across multiple competitions.
The talented youngster has proven himself to be a reliable frontman by averaging 2.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has been guilty of being a bit untidy with his ball distribution as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 71.6% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Vlahovic The Right Fit For Man City?
Standing at 1.90m, Vlahovic is a towering presence inside the opposition penalty box and can often his strength to overpower his marker up top. He excels at creating a space for himself to get a few shots in at goal and can even engineer some meaningful openings for others around him.
The Serbian centre-forward has proven his value as a deadly finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level, so Man City should only consider moving in for him if they are willing to be patient with his development.
Pep Guardiola has got the experience to unlock the best out of Vlahovic at the Etihad Stadium in the coming seasons. Hence, the Serbian goal-getter could turn out to be a good fit for the reigning Premier League champions in the long run.
At 21, the future is quite bright for Vlahovic as long as he is willing to put in the work on the training field. All in all, the Mancunian club should undeniably think about offering him a big-money contract so that they can bolster their attacking options for the future.
