Leeds United clashed heads with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road earlier today as they hoped to earn a positive result at home. The Whites made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the tenth minute courtesy of Hee-Chan Hwang’s goal from point-blank range. The home team struggled to come up with a response and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
The Yorkshire giants kept themselves in the contest and finally managed to equalise in the 94th minute via Rodrigo’s penalty. The match ended with both sides sharing the points after playing out a 1-1 draw in this Premier League game.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds United player fared during the match against Wolves.
GK: Illan Meslier – 6.5/10
Meslier made a few solid saves to keep his team in the game. However, he won’t be happy after conceding such an early goal.
RB: Jamie Shackleton – 7/10
He was solid when defending inside his half and completed a couple of decent dribbles during the game.
CB: Diego Llorente – 7/10
Llorente got stuck in with a few crunching challenges and cleared the danger when needed.
CB: Liam Cooper – 6.5/10
The Leeds centre-back put his foot through the ball when in danger of being exposed at the back. However, he will be disappointed for not securing a clean sheet.
LB: Stuart Dallas – 8/10
Dallas won the ball back multiple times for his side and didn’t put a foot wrong in the game when defending inside his half. He also engineered two good chances for his teammates in the opposition half.
RW: Raphinha – 8/10
The Brazilian winger made a lot of exciting runs with the ball and was a constant menace in the first half. He was replaced in the 53rd minute.
CM: Pascal Struijk – 6.5/10
Struijk protected his backline to the best of his abilities and passed the ball quite well.
CM: Mateusz Klich – 6/10
Klich had some bright moments in the Wolves half but didn’t offer enough cover for his teammates at the back. He got substituted after the hour mark.
LW: Jack Harrison – 5.5/10
He put in a lackluster display in the first half and got subbed out at half-time.
CAM: Daniel James – 6/10
The ex-Manchester United winger worked hard to aid his teammates defensively but failed to make an impact in the attacking third.
ST: Rodrigo – 8.5/10
Rodrigo caused all kinds of problems for the Wolves defenders and finally got his deserved goal in the second half injury-time when he successfully converted his penalty.
Substitutes:
ST: Tyler Roberts – 6.5/10
Roberts created two good chances in the final third.
RW: Crysencio Summerville – 6/10
The youngster put in a nice cameo in the second half.
ST: Joe Gelhardt – 7/10
He was always willing to have a strike at goal and created a couple of inviting openings up top.
