Chelsea will lock horns with Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, hoping to pick up a win and further solidify their position as the league leaders. The Blues will be heading into the contest on the back of an encouraging 4-0 win against Swedish side Malmo in the UEFA Champions League, whereas the visitors recorded a 0-0 draw with Brighton last week.
Thomas Tuchel will probably opt for the 3-4-3 formation; however, he is expected to make a couple of changes for the upcoming contest as Kai Havertz looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
3-4-3 Chelsea Predicted Lineup Vs Norwich City
Defence
Eduardo Mendy is expected to start in between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The Senegalese shot-stopper will be hoping to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Saturday.
Thiago Silva is expected to start at the heart of Blues’ backline, whereas Antonio Rudiger will feature at the left centre-back spot. Cesar Azpilicueta will fulfil the right centre-back position.
However, their main objective will be to keep Teemu Pukki quiet throughout the ninety minutes.
Midfield
Kovacic and N’Golo Kante might fill in the holding midfield positions, with the former occupying a more central role. The pair would be looking to dominate the midfield proceedings.
Marcos Alonso might replace Ben Chilwell at the left wing-back position, whereas Reece James will fill in on the other flank as the right wing-back. The duo would be expected to stretch Chelsea’s attacks in the opposition half.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could be brought on in the latter stages of the game if needed.
Saul Niguez could feature in the second-half as well.
Attack
Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech will slot into the attacking midfield roles. The duo would be determined to set up some clear cut goal-scoring chances for the front-men.
Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner were forced off with unfortunate injuries before half-time in midweek.
“Romelu twisted his ankle when he was fouled in the box and Timo has a hamstring injury, so it will take a while for both of them,” said Thomas Tuchel.
“We need more examinations to be more precise but they will be out for some matches.”
As a result, Kai Havertz will lead the line for Chelsea against Norwich City. The German international will be hoping to find the back of the net when he faces off against the Norwich defence that has kept two clean sheets in their last three league matches.
Ross Barkley might come on to make a cameo appearance in the second forty-five minutes.
