Despite yet another dreadful defeat in Europe, Rangers are still leading the Premiership standings ahead of hosting Hibernian on Sunday afternoon. Hibs are still unbeaten in the league and have shown great resurgence under the tutelage of Jack Ross. They are tied in the second spot alongside Hearts and a win at Ibrox might see them securing the top of the table spot during the upcoming international break.
Meanwhile, Rangers might receive a significant injury boost for the Hibernian clash. They missed Connor Goldson in deep defence against Sparta Praha, but the former Brighton & Hove Albion star might regain fitness in time to line up in the heart of the backline. Having said that, the Gers must raise their standards to avoid another setback.
Predicted 4-3-3 Rangers Lineup To Face Hibernian
Defence
Steven Gerrard has mostly preferred veteran Allan McGregor for their European fixtures, and therefore, is likely to recall Jon McLaughlin between the sticks who has been solid so far in the domestic outings.
With Filip Helander ruled out with injury, Leon Balogun should retain his place in central defence alongside Goldson. Jack Simpson has not done enough to cement a place since securing a winter move, however, the former Bournemouth youngster might still get the nod if Goldson fails the late fitness test. Skipper James Tavernier must keep hold of his right-back role, whereas the experience of Borna Barisic must be prioritized over Calvin Bassey’s flair down the left.
Midfield
Rangers have a few key absentees in the middle of the park. Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Ofoborh are still recovering from their respective problems, also an injury against Sparta makes Juninho Bacuna a major doubt for the Hibs contest. Veteran Steven Davis should operate from the base allowing Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo to have free roles in the centre of the pitch. Kamara must overcome his midweek misfortune when he was booed in the Letná Stadium prior to his harsh dismissal late in the game. John Lundstram and Scott Arfield might get involved if the manager plans a change.
Attack
Gerrard must tweak the attacking lineup and restore Alfredo Morelos high up the pitch replacing Fashion Sakala. Scott Wright should get deployed down the left in the absence of Ryan Kent. Ianis Hagi must slot in on the right with Kemar Roofe expected to be introduced at a later stage to exhibit his scoring traits.
