According to Fichajes, Chelsea have expressed interest in Kacper Kozlowski. The Pogon Szczecin youngster has attracted a lot of interest in the market following his performances in Ekstraklasa. The Blues are thus included in the long list of clubs that are keeping a close eye on Kozlowski’s development in Poland, with Pogon Szczecin themselves expecting a sale.
Who Is Kacper Kozlowski?
A product of the Pogon Szczecin youth academy, Kacper Kozlowski has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence over the past year or so. He was a part of Pogon’s senior side since 2019, but the youngster’s actual breakthrough in professional football came last season, with the youngster notching up 20 league appearances.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Kozlowski has raised many eyebrows with his flair and dynamism in the final third. He is indeed a gifted player on the ball, who can take on opposing defenders as well as use his quick feet to wriggle through tight spaces.
The Pole is an excellent chance creator as well, often having the eye to find that breakthrough pass in the final third. In fact, the youngster is often compared to Kevin de Bruyne in his native Poland.
At the age of 17, Kozlowski has already featured in 36 competitive matches for Pogon Szczecin while winning five caps for the Polish national team. Not to mention, he has been involved in five goals in just nine matches in Ekstraklasa this season, making him one of the in-demand youngsters in central Europe.
Should Chelsea Make A Move?
Having signed Saul Niguez on a season-long loan deal this summer, Chelsea are in no immediate need of signing another attacking midfielder. But it is fair to point out that the Spaniard hasn’t had the greatest of starts to his Premier League career.
Moreover, Chelsea have struggled with Kai Havertz’s lack of form this season while the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley clearly have no future at the club. This is where someone like Kacper Kozlowski could prove to be a smart investment for the reigning European champions.
Although it is hard to imagine the 17-year-old becoming an established starter in the Chelsea team at the moment, he certainly has the quality to provide competition for the likes of Mason Mount and Havertz in the attacking midfield position. Moreover, given his tender age, the Pole has time on his side and can, therefore, further improve himself as a footballer.
Chelsea, as a club, have already had a lot of success integrating young players into their first-team in recent years, so the potential acquisition of Kacper Kozlowski could certainly be a smart move by the club.
