In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni. It is understood that the Blues could face competition from Real Madrid and Juventus in the race to recruit the French youngster.
Tchoumeni’s Recent Form In French Football
Tchouaméni has been a consistent performer for the French outfit so far this season as he has already produced some solid performances for them at the centre of the park. The Rouen-born talent has taken part in 15 matches for his current club, scoring two goals in all competitions.
The 21-year-old has given a good account of himself by averaging 2.9 tackles, 2.1 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.9 shots and 1.2 dribbles per game in Ligue 1. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball going forward after completing 88% of his attempted passes in the French top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Tchouameni has taken good strides towards improving himself in French football. Thus, Chelsea have every reason to make an attempt to sign him next year as he could serve as a perfect, long-term successor to N’Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge.
Should Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel Get Aurélien Tchouaméni On Board?
Tchouaméni is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn possession back for his team. He can clear his lines when required and is a neat passer of the ball as well. The Frenchman is not shy of having a shot from long range and can chip in by scoring the odd goal from time to time. He can even make some driving runs with the ball from midfield.
Tchouameni will only get better with each season, so Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel can expect to make the most of his talents if he can find a way to win the chase for his services. The French midfield ace will inject plenty of bite and steel to the West London club‘s midfield. Moreover, he will undeniably increase competition for places within Tuchel’s match-day squad.
However, Tchouaméni might struggle to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football which makes him a risky option for the Blues. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting the French sensation. Hence, Tuchel should consider going all out to get him on board next year.
