According to the Independent, Tottenham are monitoring Jarrod Bowen. The West Ham attacker has put a lot of clubs on red alert following his performances under David Moyes and a move towards a bigger club could soon be on the horizon. Spurs are already among the clubs keeping tabs on Bowen, though they could face stiff competition from Liverpool and Leicester City.
Jarrod Bowen’s Success At West Ham
Jarrod Bowen has been a major success for West Ham, since arriving at the club in January 2020 for a fee of €21 million. He has emerged as an integral part of the club’s attacking unit, notching up 59 competitive appearances and being involved in a total of 20 goals.
Bowen’s impact last season, in particular, was critical in helping West Ham qualify for European football. He had built an excellent attacking combination alongside the likes of Michail Antonio, Jesse Lingard and Said Benrahma, leading to a successful season for the Hammers.
A right-winger by trade, the 24-year-old has impressed the onlookers with his ability to breach opposition defences using his pace and link-up play. Indeed, the former Hull City attacker is extremely lethal on the counter, which goes hand in hand with David Moyes’ tactical philosophy at West Ham.
In addition to his speed, Bowen has showcased his technical prowess that has helped the Hammers emerge as one of the strongest teams in England over the past 12 months.
A Good Option For Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur‘s desire to sign Jarrod Bowen is hardly unsurprising as new coach Nuno Espirito Santo looks for new attackers who can settle into his tactical philosophy quickly.
The West Ham starlet, in that regard, proves to be an ideal fit due to his counter-attacking capability as well as the versatility he offers going forward. Not to mention, he has a significant amount of experience of English football under his belt, so a move to North London might not be all too difficult for the winger.
From a sporting perspective, Bowen would be a more direct alternative for the likes of Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil. Given how much talent he has shown at West Ham, the Englishman could potentially build a strong attacking partnership alongside Son Heung-Min, owing to his technical brilliance.
Moreover, the 24-year-old’s ability to operate on both flanks and even in the false nine role could be useful as Tottenham prepare for life without Harry Kane next season. As such, Bowen could prove to be a smart signing for the Lilywhites next summer.
