Manchester City clashed heads with Paris Saint-Germain earlier tonight, hoping to pick up all three points on matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League campaign. Idrissa Gueye broke the deadlock in the 8-minute-mark as he put the ball past Ederson Moraes to make it 1-0 for the hosts. Lionel Messi doubled the lead in the 74th minute with a spectacular finish from the edge of the penalty area to secure a 2-0 win for his side.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the clash against the Parisians.
Manchester City Players Rated Vs PSG
Ederson Moraes 6
The Brazilian shot-stopper didn’t have too much to do in between the sticks tonight except for getting beaten twice.
Kyle Walker 5.5
The English right-back was at sixes and sevens trying to defend against PSG’s swift transition in attacks. However, he did pretty well to contain Neymar down the right flank on a couple of occasions.
Ruben Dias 5
The Portuguese centre-back found himself struggling against Kylian Mbappe’s lightning pace whenever the hosts broke on the counter. Besides, he could have done better to prevent the first goal of the game.
Aymeric Laporte 5
Ditto as Dias, the Spaniard, fell massively short against PSG’s front three as he failed to keep things in order at the back tonight.
Joao Cancelo 6
The Portugal international drove forward on multiple occasions to support Jack Grealish down the left-wing. Besides playing some decent through balls to the frontmen, he tried his luck against Donnrumma as well.
Rodri 6
The Spain international stayed central and distributed the ball impressively over the course of the game. However, his defensive work rate was not quite up to the mark.
Bernardo Silva 4
He missed a sitter in the first half, which could have levelled things out for the visitors.
Kevin De Bruyne 4
The Belgian playmaker couldn’t create too many chances against Pochettino’s stubborn defence.
Jack Grealish 6
It was nothing but a bad day at the office for the England international. More often than not, he got past his markers successfully to deliver the ball into the box, but none of his crosses reached the intended target.
Riyad Mahrez 6
Same as Grealish, the Algerian winger constantly kept trying to make things happen as he cut inside from the flanks time and again. However, nothing seemed to work out for him.
Raheem Sterling 4.5
Sterling lacked the clinical touch in front of the goal.
SUBSTITUTES (Manchester City Players Rated Vs PSG)
Phil Foden 6
He looked pretty lively after coming on.
