Manchester City locked horns with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium earlier this afternoon as they looked to pick up all three points on the road. Both teams canceled each other out in the first half and went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Bernardo Silva finally broke the deadlock when he found the back of the net from close range just after the hour mark. The Portuguese winger’s goal was enough for Man City to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory at the East Midlands.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player fared during the clash against the Foxes.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian goalie just had one save to make in the game and secured a comfortable clean sheet on the road. He also passed the ball relatively well.
RB: Kyle Walker – 7/10
Walker was defensively solid and had a couple of lively moments in the Leicester half. Overall, it was a strong display from him today.
CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10
The Portuguese centre-back didn’t put a foot wrong at the back and made several key chances for his teammates going forward.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 7/10
Laporte cleared his lines when needed and kept possession moving quite well for Man City.
LB: Joao Cancelo – 7.5/10
He had to do his fair share of defending but stood up to the test quite well. He also produced an encouraging display in the Leicester half.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 8/10
The German midfield ace got forward at every chance he got and had plenty of shots at goal. Only a goal was missing from his game today.
CM: Rodri – 6/10
Rodri passed the ball quite well from midfield but struggled to create too many chances in the final third.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 8.5/10
Silva was a constant menace for the Leicester defenders and scored the only goal of the game with a great finish from close range.
LW: Jack Grealish – 7/10
The ex-Aston Villa playmaker engineered some decent chances for his teammates to score. However, there was no goal or assist for him today.
ST: Ferran Torres – 6/10
Torres did not have his shooting boots on and was taken off after the hour mark.
RW: Gabriel Jesus – 6/10
The Brazil international wasted a couple of good chances but was mostly ineffective during his time on the field.
Substitutes:
RW: Raheem Sterling – 6/10
He added some energy to Man City’s attack.
CM: Fernandinho – N/A
The veteran midfielder hardly had any time to make an impact.
