According to Fichajes, Manchester City are keeping an eye on Benjamin Sesko. The young attacker from RB Salzburg is being monitored by multiple European giants including the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. All of them expect Sesko to become the next big star at Salzburg, and a move away to a bigger club could soon be on the horizon.
Who Is Benjamin Sesko?
Formerly of Liefering, Benjamin Sesko is a Slovenia native who is starting to make his voice heard in the first team of RB Salzburg this season. He had initially returned to Salzburg this summer on the back of a successful loan spell with Liefering that saw him score 21 goals in the Austrian second division.
Sesko is now making an impact for Salzburg, notably scoring three goals in eight matches so far. Although he hasn’t had the same level of success as Karim Adeyemi, the 18-year-old has certainly shown a lot of potential, particularly with his physique and goalscoring prowess.
Standing at 1.94m, the Slovenian is exactly as tall as ex-Salzburg superstar Erling Haaland. In fact, the youngster shares a lot of similarities with the current Dortmund star, particularly when it comes to his hold-up play, strong physique and ability to find himself in scoring situations.
Sesko has already shown his quality at Salzburg so far this season and has registered six goals to his name. His stock is expected to grow further as the season plays out.
How Does Sesko Fit In At Man City?
Manchester City‘s pursuit of a new striker in the summer has been well-documented, with the reigning English champions missing out on star players like Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
It leaves Pep Guardiola without a proper replacement for Sergio Aguero. But fortunately for him, Ferran Torres is stepping up brilliantly in recent weeks. He has already bagged three goals this season, notably finding the back of the net in the 6-1 win over Wycombe this midweek.
But neither Torres, nor Gabriel Jesus are traditional centre-forwards and that is where Benjamin Sesko comes into the fray. The young Slovenian could turn out to be an excellent prospect for Guardiola in the number nine role, particularly with his physique and energy that fit in well with the Premier League.
There are no guarantees whether Man City will land Erling Haaland or Kane next season, which means investing in a young talent like Sesko could prove to be a sensible move for the Citizens, as they look to solve their goalscoring problems sooner rather than later.
