According to Fichajes, Liverpool are in the market for Amine Gouiri. The OGC Nice attacker is highly regarded as one of the most talented up and coming stars in France and had enjoyed a breakthrough season in professional football. Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a huge admirer and wants to work with Gouiri at Liverpool, as the German continues his search for attacking reinforcements.
Who Is Amine Gouiri?
A product of the Olympique Lyon youth academy, Amine Gouiri joined OGC Nice last summer for a fee of €7 million. It was a calculated risk from the Ligue 1 outfit, who were struggling financially. But the move has paid off really well, with the youngster scoring 12 goals and assisting seven more during his debut campaign at Nice.
A centre-forward by trade, Gouiri turned many heads with his productivity going forward. Fine-tuned by Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, the 21-year-old has truly established himself as a rising star at Nice, but while his goalscoring prowess has certainly caught the eye, what makes the youngster such a sought-after prospect is his technical prowess.
Indeed, the former Lyon youth graduate is advertised as a versatile attacker, who can drift into wider positions if necessary or link up with teammates using a quick sequence of passing. It is a reason why the attacker had also registered seven assists last season and his overall game is certainly getting better and better.
Gouiri has already started the new season on a strong note, netting four goals in four league appearances. It will be interesting to see if he can keep up his form, but the Frenchman is surely being closely monitored by Liverpool.
A Good Option For Liverpool?
Liverpool are in the market for a new striker after failing to sign too many players in the summer transfer window. It appears the recent injury of Harvey Elliott, combined with Roberto Firmino’s struggles in finding the back of the net, has left Jurgen Klopp desperate.
That is where Amine Gouiri comes into the fray, with the youngster already making a name for himself at Nice with his tactical versatility and technical brilliance. He can thus be an exciting addition to the Liverpool side that needs a technically astute forward who can not only team up with Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane but can also offer productivity in the final third.
Gouiri has already proven himself in Ligue 1 with 16 goals in 46 appearances. And while making the jump to Premier League could be far more difficult, the youngster certainly has what it takes to thrive at Anfield and at the age of 21, he could indeed be a smart long-term investment for the Merseyside giants.
