As reported by Express, Leeds United could reignite interest in Noa Lang next summer. The Premier League outfit were linked with a summer swoop for the Club Brugge forward but a move did not materialise as the Belgian club were holding out for a higher fee. But it appears Lang is set for a move to a bigger club after the end of the season, putting Leeds in contention to snap him up next summer.
Noa Lang: The Next Star In Dutch Football?
Formerly of the Ajax academy, Noa Lang has been a part of the Club Brugge team since last summer, when he joined the club on a season-long loan deal. He was involved in 22 league goals during his debut season in Jupiler Pro League, convincing Bruges to make his move permanent this summer, for a fee of €6 million.
The move has paid off well for the Belgian giants so far, with the attacker being involved in seven goals in seven league matches while starring in the recent draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
A left-winger by trade, Lang’s explosive nature in the final third has turned many heads across Europe. He is indeed an exceptional dribbler who is being compared to the likes of Arjen Robben and Eden Hazard due to his ability to not only beat players but also open up spaces in the final third.
However, what makes the young Dutchman such a sought-after asset in Europe is his productivity. Since moving to Belgium last summer, Lang has scored 21 goals while supplying 15 more in 46 competitive appearances for Club Brugge. It is an extraordinary return for a winger and the numbers are likely to increase as we progress further into the new season.
A Much-Needed Option For Leeds United?
Leeds United have faced a bit of criticism for their transfer activity in the summer. The Whites offloaded fringe wingers like Helder Costa and Ian Poveda on loan deals but have failed to secure a proper replacement or add enough depth in the attacking unit.
The deadline day capture of Daniel James seemed like a panic buy more than anything else, with many even criticising the transfer fee paid for the former Swansea forward who had struggled at Old Trafford over the past couple of years.
It remains to be seen whether the Welshman will be successful at Elland Road this season, but it is apparent that Marcelo Bielsa requires more firepower in the wide attacking department.
Noa Lang appears to be an ideal option as his explosive nature upfront, combined with his productivity, could bode well for a Leeds United team that loves to attack. At the age of just 22, the Dutchman has a bright future ahead of him and given his style of play, he should thrive under the leadership of Marcelo Bielsa next season.
However, the Whites are set to face stiff competition for the pursuit of the youngster next summer. They may have to pay a fortune for the services of the Brugge forward, whose contract doesn’t expire until 2024.
