West Ham United will clash heads with Manchester United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, hoping to pick up a positive result on their home turf. The Red Devils will be coming into the match on the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat to BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League, whereas David Moyes’ men recorded a 2-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in Europa League.
David Moyes will probably opt for his usual 4-2-3-1 formation against Manchester United; however, the Scottish tactician might make a couple of changes for the upcoming home encounter from the last game. Said Benrahma might get the nod over Manuel Lanzini, whereas Vladimir Coufal looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup Vs Manchester United
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski will continue to operate in between the sticks for the home side. The Polish international will be hoping to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Sunday.
Craig Dawson will replace Kurt Zouma to form his customary centre-half partnership with Angelo Ogbonna at the heart of West Ham’s backline.
Vladimir Coufal is a guaranteed starter at the right wing-back spot, whereas Aaron Cresswell will start on the other flank as the left-back. Up against the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo, the full-backs would be expected to stay compact defensively.
Midfield
Tomas Soucek will continue to feature alongside Declan Rice in the holding midfield position, with the latter being assigned with more of a defensive role to shield the home side’s back-four.
Said Benrahma will slot in the attacking midfield position to complete the midfield trio. The Algeria international will be determined to engineer some clear-cut goal scoring chances for the front men.
Manuel Lanzini will have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on in the latter stages of the game if needed.
Attack
Pablo Fornals and Nikola Vlasic are expected to take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right-wing respectively.
Jarrod Bowen is expected to lead the line for the hosts against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in the absence of Michail Antonio. The Englishman will be hoping to make the most of his chances when he faces off against the United defence that has conceded three goals in their last three games across all competitions.
