Barcelona entertained Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp earlier tonight as they hoped to grind out a result at home. The home team kept a good shape in the early parts of the match but conceded the opener in the 34th minute when Thomas Muller found the back of the net for the Bavarian giants. Barca failed to come up with a response and trailed 1-0 at the half-time break.
Robert Lewandowski doubled Bayern’s advantage in the 56th minute with a good finish. The Polish striker went on to score another in the 85th minute as Ronald Koeman’s players crashed to a disappointing 3-0 loss in front of their home supporters.
Let’s take a look at how each Barca player fared during the clash against Bayern Munich.
GK: Marc-André ter Stegen – 6/10
The German keeper made a few good saves but still ended up conceding three goals during the 90 minutes.
CB: Ronald Araujo – 6/10
He cleared his lines when required but struggled to cope with the quality of the Bayern attackers tonight.
CB: Gerard Pique – 6.5/10
Pique used his experience well to deal with the danger inside his half. However, he failed to keep Lewandowski quiet in the second 45 minutes.
CB: Eric Garcia – 5.5/10
The Spanish looked a bit soft on the defensive end of the field. He got replaced after the hour mark.
CDM: Sergio Busquets – 6/10
Busquets tried his best to give Barca some control in midfield but got substituted in the 58th minute.
RM: Sergi Roberto – 5/10
The Spaniard was lackluster in the first half and got replaced early in the second.
CM: Pedri – 6/10
The youngster passed the ball well and managed to pull off a couple of encouraging runs in the opposition half.
CM: Frenkie de Jong – 6/10
He helped his teammates out at the back at times but struggled to create anything of note in the final third.
LM: Jordi Alba – 5.5/10
Even though he made two good runs with the ball down the left flank, it was a disjointed performance from the Spaniard at both ends of the field.
ST: Luuk de Jong – 5/10
De Jong was a frustrated figure in the Bayern half and didn’t get a sniff at goal during his time on the field.
ST: Memphis Depay – 6/10
The Dutch forward had a few lively moments but will be disappointed after failing to register a shot on target.
Substitutes:
RM: Yusuf Demir – 6/10
He was quite bright on the ball after coming off the bench.
CAM: Philippe Coutinho – 6/10
The ex-Liverpool playmaker had a couple of shots but never looked like he would score.
CM: Gavi – 6/10
The 17-year-old got some valuable minutes under his belt.
CB: Oscar Mingueze – 6/10
He made an important interception late in the game.
LM: Alex Balde – 6/10
Balde made one good chance after coming on in the 73rd minute.
