Real Madrid will clash heads with Inter Milan at San Siro on Wednesday night as they look to pick up a positive result in the first group stage game of their UEFA Champions League campaign. Los Blancos managed to get the better of Celta Vigo by a 5-2 scoreline last weekend which will give them a lot of momentum going into this game.
Carlo Ancelotti will once again opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could be inclined to make a couple of tweaks to his first team in midweek. Marcelo and Lucas Vazquez could both start as the Madrid boss looks to give Miguel Gutiérrez and Luka Modric a rest on the bench.
4-4-2 Real Madrid Predicted Lineup To Face Inter Milan
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will feature in between the sticks for Los Blancos after conceding two goals versus Celta Vigo last Sunday. Nacho should continue to feature alongside Eder Militao at the heart of Ancelotti’s defence as they try to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Dani Carvajal will operate at right-back while Marcelo fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack so that they do not leave themselves exposed at the back.
Miguel Gutiérrez could drop to the bench as he offers cover for the left-back position.
Midfield
Casemiro will anchor the midfield along with Federico Valverde as they look to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. Vinicius Junior will be a nailed-on starter on the left-wing. We can expect Lucas Vazquez to get a chance to impress from the right.
Luka Modric will probably get a rest on Ancelotti’s bench but could come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Karim Benzema will lead the charge for the Madrid club along with Eden Hazard up top. Benzema managed to score a hattrick and pick up an assist versus Celta Vigo last weekend, so he will once again be Los Blancos’ best hope for a goal in midweek.
Rodrygo will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the latter stages if Ancelotti decides to call upon his services.
