Wolverhampton Wanderers will face off against Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon as they try to pick up a positive result on the road. The West Midlands side have lost all three of their Premier League matches thus far, so Bruno Lage will be desperate to get a positive response from his players this weekend.
Wolves could set themselves up in a 3-4-3 formation but might have to do without Raul Jimenez, who is set to miss out due to the ‘five-day rule’ under FIFA Regulations. Hence, we can expect Fabio Silva to lead the charge for Lage’s team up top.
3-4-3 Wolves Predicted Lineup To Face Watford
Defence
Jose Sa will operate in between the sticks for Wolves after he shipped in one goal against Manchester United before the international break. Lage could opt for a back three of Max Kilman, Conor Coady and Romain Saïss as they try to keep things solid at the back versus the Hornets this weekend.
Willy Boly and Ki-Jana Hoever will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the Wolves bench.
Midfield
Ruben Neves will once again resume his midfield partnership with Joao Moutinho. However, the Portuguese pair will have to figure out a way to create more chances for their teammates in the final third if they want to end Wolves’ current goal drought in the Premier League.
Fernando Marçal could get the nod to start down the left flank while Nelson Semedo fills in on the other side as the right wing-back. Both of them will be given the license to get to the byline and cause some problems for the Watford full-backs during the 90 minutes.
Leander Dendoncker will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the second half if Lage decides to call upon his services.
Attack
Adama Traore will hope to put his pace to good use as the left-winger while Trincao looks to catch the eye from the right. As mentioned earlier, Fabio Silva could get a rare start for Wolves in the absence of Raul Jimenez. The Portuguese striker will spearhead Lage’s attack this weekend as he focuses on producing a goal-scoring performance to help Wolves secure a victory on the road.
Daniel Podence will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
