In a recent tweet, The Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath stated that Wolverhampton Wanderers are eyeing a loan move for Red Bull Leipzig winger Ademola Lookman. However, it has been revealed that Wolves could face competition in the form of Crystal Palace in the race to land the English wide player before the end of this month.

Lookman’s Encouraging Loan Spell With Fulham
The 23-year-old experienced a productive loan spell at Fulham in the previous campaign as he managed to put in some eye-catching displays for them on the left wing. However, his impressive contributions were not enough for the Cottagers to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Lookman featured in 35 matches for the London club last season, scoring four goals and grabbing four assists in multiple competitions. The London-born wing wizard caught the eye by averaging 1.0 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 2.0 shots, 1.8 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the 2020-21 Premier League campaign. He was also careful when linking up play with others around him in the opponent’s half after making 80.9% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
The 11-time England Under-21 international is still under contract at the Red Bull Arena until the summer of 2024, so it won’t be easy for Wolves to arrange a permanent move for him this summer. However, Bruno Lage would be wise to consider getting him on a season-long loan deal so that he can bolster his attacking options for the remainder of this campaign.
Is Lookman A Good Choice For Wolves?
Lookman can use his quickness to get to the byline and can deliver some decent crosses into the opponent’s penalty box. He deserves credit for adding some goals and assists to his game but still has a lot of room for improvement in his game.
The English sensation is primarily a left-sided wide player but can even function as a right-winger or assume the duties of a secondary striker by playing down the middle if needed. Hence, he could be a decent choice for Wolves to pursue this month as the winger will add more pace and energy to Lage’s attack.
Lookman is good enough to fight for a regular starting place at the Molineux Stadium over the next 12 months. At the very least, he will increase competition for places within Lage’s match-day squad. With all things considered, Lookman ticks all the right boxes in terms of what the West Midlands need in the attacking end of the pitch, so Lage should try everything he can to snap him up on loan this summer.
