West Ham United will entertain Leicester City at the London Stadium on Monday night as they look to build on their winning start to this Premier League campaign. The Hammers managed to secure a hard-fought 4-2 win over Newcastle United last weekend which will keep them in high spirits heading into this home game versus the Foxes.
David Moyes will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Michail Antonio remains the East London club’s only recognized senior striker, so he will be nailed-on to lead the charge for the Hammers in the final third.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will feature in goal for the Hammers after he shipped in two goals versus Newcastle in his last league outing. Angelo Ogbonna will continue to feature alongside Craig Dawson at the heart of the West Ham defence as they try to stop Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy from scoring during the 90 minutes.
Vladimír Coufal will function at right-back while Aaron Cresswell fills in on the other side as the left-back. Moyes will give both of them the license to get forward and express themselves in the Leicester half. However, they will also have to make sure not to let the opposition get in behind them out on the wide areas.
Issa Diop will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-half positions.
Midfield
Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice will sit deep and operate as the holding midfielders once again for West Ham. Soucek found the back of the net last weekend, so he will be full of confidence and could pose a real threat from midfield.
The talented trio of Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen will play just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack. All three of them will need to be at the top of their game if the Hammers are to come out on top this Monday night.
Mark Noble and Andriy Yarmolenko will have to settle for a place on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Michail Antonio will spearhead the West Ham attack up top after managing to get his name on the scoresheet in the win over Newcastle last weekend. The English striker will once again carry most of the goal-scoring workload for the Hammers on Monday night.
