Celtic were favourites to extend the winning streak this afternoon against St. Mirren at Paradise. Ange Postecoglou fielded an attacking line-up to frustrate the visitors and the early dismissal of Alan Power led to further misery in a disastrous defeat on the road for St. Mirren.
Below are the Celtic players rated in their commanding 6-0 win against St. Mirren.
Joe Hart:
Was hardly tested between the sticks as it turned out to be a comfortable outing for the veteran Englishman against then ten men Saints.
Anthony Ralston: 8.5
The Hoops have announced the signing of Josip Juranović, but it did not impact Anthony Ralston’s performance down the right-hand side. Mostly spent his time high up the pitch with marauding runs, crosses and link-up play with Liel Abada. Set it up for the Israeli teenager who opened the account around the 17th-minute mark.
Stephen Welsh: 8
Was quick to move the ball out from the back and played his part for the third goal of the afternoon which David Turnbull fired in from 20 yards out.
Carl Starfelt: 7
Made a few clearances and recoveries. Celtic dominated the show otherwise and the Swedish centre-half rarely had a nervy occasion in the heart of the backline.
Greg Taylor: 8
Although the Bhoys must aim for a new left fullback to challenge and cover Taylor, the young Scot did well with overlapping runs and cut insides. Assisted Abada for his second goal minutes after Power’s marching order.
Callum McGregor: 7.5
Dominated the game from the centre of the pitch, did well to retain possession and script attacking transition after carrying the ball from the deep. Made way for Tom Rogic midway through the second half.
David Turnbull: 10
Outrageous from midfield as he was swift in switching positions and making on-target attempts. Hit the woodwork once but eventually grabbed a hat-trick exhibiting his majestic scoring traits.
Liel Abada: 9
Stunning yet again from the right-hand flank. Kept on creating chances with his pace, tricky footwork and smart one-twos with fellow attackers. Scored a brace early on to set the tempo up.
Ryan Christie: 8
Returned to action recovering from a minor knock. Operated from the left and his dribbles and with the ball movement caused menace in St. Mirren defence. Played his part in the build-ups.
Kyogo Furuhashi: 7.5
A rare occasion when the Japanese did not find the net in such a high-scoring encounter. Had his opportunities inside the box but was denied by Jak Alnwick in the Saints’ goal. Played his part in Edouard’s goal before making way for Ismaila Soro midway through the second half.
Odsonne Edouard: 8.5
A bit of a surprise as he grabbed only one goal despite having around 8 shots. Hit the woodwork once, got denied by Alnwick spectacularly but was spot on with his finish to make it 5-0. Was withdrawn in the closing minutes for Albian Ajeti.
Celtic Subs Vs St. Mirren
Tom Rogic: 7.5
Got denied by Alnwick soon after coming on but was smart enough to find Turnbull with a through ball for the hat-trick goal.
Ismaila Soro: 6
Calmed things down in the middle of the park with his holding and passing game.
Albian Ajeti: 7
Played his part in Turnbull’s third goal moments after coming on in place of Edouard.
