Tottenham Hotspur are heading into the international break at the top of the Premier League after a run of three successive wins. After struggling with the manager earlier in the summer, they have picked themselves up really well, with the duo of Fabio Paratici and Nuno Espirito Santo playing a vital role in rebuilding the squad with an ideal mix of youth and experience.
Here, at The 4th Official, we will take a look at the strongest possible Tottenham Hotspur lineup if we include all the new signings that have been made this summer.
Strongest Tottenham Lineup Including New Signings
Defence
Pierluigi Gollini was brought in from Atalanta in the summer as a direct competitor for Hugo Lloris. The Italian offers Nuno a younger alternative for the ageing goalkeeper, but in terms of quality, Lloris certainly gets the nod. The veteran has already performed well in the first three games, and his experience makes him an undisputed choice over Gollini.
At right-back, it appears Tottenham are likely to sign Emerson from FC Barcelona. However, Japhet Tanganga could be a much better fit at right-back as his defensive qualities offer Spurs balance, especially with the attack-minded Sergio Reguilon being the left-back, ahead of Ben Davies.
Cristian Romero has been the marquee signing for Spurs in central defence this summer. The Argentine should walk into the club’s strongest eleven, most probably at the expense of Eric Dier. The Englishman has started the season well, but it is Davinson Sanchez and Romero that could really form the ideal backbone for Tottenham’s defensive unit.
Midfield
Things are slightly in the middle unit, with Tottenham failing to restructure the midfield properly this summer. While Moussa Sissoko has left the club, Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele have no future at the club under Nuno. It has seen youngster Oliver Skipp starting the first three games.
Pape Sarr was brought in from Metz but has been sent back to Ligue 1 on a direct loan deal. Skipp, therefore, appears to be the best available partner for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Although Ndombele does edge ahead when it comes to quality, the Frenchman is way too inconsistent to be a part of the Spurs setup under Nuno.
Attack
In the attack, the dream duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are guaranteed starters for Tottenham. The remaining slots in attacking midfield and out wide are, therefore, vacant.
Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwij and new signing Bryan Gil are all options out wide, but it seems Bergwijn might be the best fit, having settled in quite well under the new manager.
As for the number ten slot, Dele Alli has started the season well, but Giovani Lo Celso walks into this team due to his overall quality.
