Real Madrid have announced on their official website the deadline day acquisition of Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. It has also been revealed that the French youngster will pen a six-year contract with Los Blancos which will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium until the summer of 2027.
Camavinga’s Decent Run Of Form In French Football
Camavinga experienced another impressive season in Britanny after he produced a handful of solid performances at the centre of Rennes’ midfield. The talented teenager was involved in 39 matches for the French outfit in the previous campaign, netting one goal and securing three assists in various competitions.
The Miconje-born sensation continued to prove himself to be a valuable presence in Rennes’ midfield as he averaged 2.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.7 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles in Ligue 1 last season. He even took care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 89% in the French top-flight (stats via whoscored).
The 18-year-old deserves a lot of credit for already establishing himself as a regular starter in French football. Hence, his recent acquisition will excite a lot of Real Madrid fans as the youngster is in for a very bright future at the Spanish capital.
Is Camavinga The Right Fit For Los Blancos?
Camavinga enjoys hampering the opponent’s rhythm in the game by getting stuck in with a few crunching tackles. He has got a great work ethic and loves to chase down the opposition in search of the ball at the centre of the park. Camavinga can also contribute by doing a little bit of everything for his side in both halves.
The French wonderkid can make full use of his strength and quickness to make some driving runs with the ball going forward. Plus, Camavinga can create some decent chances for others around him and is an accurate passer of the ball. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to settle into Carlo Ancelotti’s playing style at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Los Blancos has got an ageing midfield with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos edging closer towards the twilight years of their respective careers. Hence, Camavinga’s signing will go a long way in reducing the average age of Ancelotti’s midfield. More importantly, he has the potential to become a regular starter at the Bernabeu in the coming seasons.
At the moment, Camavinga seems like a great fit for the Madrid outfit as he is a star in the making and could grow into a generational talent under the stewardship of an experienced manager like Ancelotti over the next few years.
