In a recent report, Transfermarketweb.com stated that Liverpool have reignited their interest in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr this summer. It is understood that the Reds are prepared to launch a £40m offer for the Senegalese winger’s services during this summer transfer window.
Sarr’s Excellent Campaign At Vicarage Road Recently
Sarr caught the eye at the Hertfordshire club last season when he produced a series of consistent displays as a key member of Xisco Muñoz’s attack. The Senegalese speedster banged in 13 goals and grabbed ten assists in 40 matches for his current employers in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.
The 23-year-old proved himself to be one of the top performers at Watford as he averaged 2.2 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship last season. He was also a tidy ball distributor after making 78.9% of his attempted passes in the English second division (stats via whoscored).
Sarr has begun to show that he can be a consistent performer at the highest level and deserves credit for helping Watford seal promotion back to the Premier League. Therefore, Liverpool would be wise to launch a late offer to bring him to Anfield before the end of this month.
What Will Sarr Bring To Merseyside?
Sarr has electric pace in his locker and can make several quick dashes with the ball out on the wide areas. He loves to drop his shoulders to get to the byline and can orchestrate some meaningful opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net. At 23, the future is quite bright for Sarr, so the Reds will do well to recruit him this month.
The 34-time Senegal international has even added plenty of goals to his game but the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his high standards in the Premier League this season. If his performance in Watford’s impressive 3-2 win over Aston Villa last weekend was anything to go by, Sarr has what it takes to transform himself to be a productive winger in top-flight football.
Jurgen Klopp can expect him to bring plenty of pace and goals to Anfield if the German head coach can find a way to get a deal over the line for him this summer. However, Liverpool cannot afford to offer him regular playing minutes which could make it difficult for them to convince the player to make a switch this summer. Even then, the Reds would be better off trying everything they can to get him on board before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month.
