In a recent print edition, Corriere dello Sport stated that Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is eager to re-join AC Milan on loan this summer. It is understood that the Blues talent is waiting for the green light to make another loan switch back to San Siro (via Sport Witness).
Bakayoko’s Impressive Form At Naples Last Season
Bakayoko experienced a decent loan stay at Napoli last season when he caught the eye by anchoring the midfield well for the Italian outfit. The Paris-born sensation scored two goals and provided two assists in 44 matches for the Naples outfit in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The 27-year-old proved his worth as a valuable contributor at the centre of the park as he averaged 2.2 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 0.8 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 88.3% of his attempted passes in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Bakoyoko is currently not part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans, so it is only logical for him to seek a move elsewhere on loan before the end of this transfer window. He knows the Milan club well from his previous loan spell with them back in 2018 which makes San Siro a viable destination for the player.
Bakoyoko Waiting To Seal A Move To AC Milan: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Bakoyoko can get stuck in with some crunching tackles to hamper the opponent’s rhythm in the game at the centre of the park. He has got the hunger to chase down the opposition and secure the ball back for his team. Standing at 1.89m, the Frenchman can be a dominant presence in the air and can use his strength to make some energetic runs with the ball in the final third. However, he should concentrate on adding a few more goals and assists to his game if he wants to earn a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
For now, a loan switch to AC Milan seems like a good career move for Bakayoko as he is in desperate need to secure more playing minutes over the next 12 months. His current contract with Chelsea is set to expire next summer, so the Blues would run the risk of losing him as a free agent when he returns from his loan spell at the end of this campaign.
Even then, it is only fair to Bakayoko for Tuchel to sanction his loan departure as the West London side would be better off getting the French midfield ace’s name off their wage bill before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.
