In a recent report, Goal.com claimed that Chelsea are prepared to send Kenedy out on loan with Flamengo interested in securing his signature this month. It is believed that the Brazilian club will also have the option to land the Blues outcast permanently for €10m next summer.
Kenedy’s Good Loan Spell In Spanish Football
Kenedy experienced a fruitful loan spell at Granada last season when he managed to put in a series of eye-catching displays for them down the left flank. The Brazilian talent was involved in 44 matches for the Spanish side in the previous campaign, netting eight goals and securing six assists in all competitions.
The 25-year-old gave a good account of himself by averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in La Liga last season. However, he was a bit sloppy when distributing the ball from the left wing based on his pass success rate of 73% in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Kenedy has shown that he can be a good performer at the highest level when he is playing regularly on the field. Hence, it makes a lot of sense for the Brazilian player to seal a move away from Stamford Bridge either on loan or permanently this summer.
Chelsea Prepared To Loan Kenedy Out This Summer: Wise Decision By Tuchel?
Kenedy can be a productive winger down the left flank when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He can make some good runs with the ball out on the wide areas and enjoys orchestrating some decent chances for his teammates in the final third. The talented playmaker is primarily a left-sided winger but can also fill in as a left-back if needed.
The Brazilian sensation also scored some impressive goals for Granada last season, but the Blues simply have no room in their squad to accommodate him this season. Therefore, it is only logical for the West London outfit to let him go this month as he is surplus to requirements under Thomas Tuchel.
Loaning the South American talent for another season will be a wise decision by Chelsea as long as they can recoup a fee for him at the end of this campaign. Kenedy’s current contract at Stamford Bridge runs out in the summer of 2024. However, at the moment, it seems like he is living on borrowed time at the English capital and would need to seal a move before the transfer deadline if he wants to continue performing at a high level this season.
