Arsenal had a horrid start to their new campaign. Defeats at the hands of Brentford and Chelsea have dealt an early blow to Mikel Arteta’s plans. The Gunners looked out of ideas up the pitch and lacked defensive awareness. However, the Spanish manager will be hoping for a better result as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang looks set to start against Manchester City.
Here is the predicted Arsenal lineup in their third league game against the reigning champions.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Line Up To Face Manchester City
Defence
Bernd Leno is set to start as the custodian in goal. Newly signed Aaron Ramsdale made his debut for the Gunners in their Domestic Cup tie against West Brom. However, the German is still the undisputed No. 1 at Arsenal after making a string of outstanding saves against Chelsea.
Kieran Tierney picked up a knock against the blues but has since recovered. He is set to start at the left side of the defence. Ben White remains a doubt after contacting Covid which makes way for Pablo Mari to start three consecutive games in the league. Rob Holding will partner Mari in the middle of the defence.
Cedric and Chambers started one game each in the league. However, the Portuguese will retain his spot at the right-hand side of the defence to counter the pace of Sterling.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka will be partnering up with the impressive Lokonga in the middle of the park. Lokonga’s performances have been rewarded by his selection in the Belgian National Team in the upcoming international games.
Bukayo Saka looked unplayable against West Brom in midweek and will hope to continue the same form against City. Martin Odegaard will be looking to play in the centre of the attack finding space for his teammates up front. He will be hoping to bring new ideas in the Arsenal forward line, which they lack severely.
Nicola Pepe will keep his spot on the right side of midfield and will look to add a final product to his mazy runs. Emile Smith Rowe was disappointing during the opening games and looks set to be benched by Arteta.
Attack
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is fresh of his hat-trick against West Brom. He finally looks to have found his scoring boots and the Gabonese star will lead the line for the Gunners.
Alexandre Lacazette also bagged one goal in the cup tie and will probably find a spot on the bench. Gabriel Martinelli and Florian Balogun will look to impact the game by coming on in the second half.
