It is understood that the Hammers outcast could be in line to seal a move away from the English capital during this summer transfer window (via Football.London).
Anderson’s Underwhelming Loan Spell In Portuguese Football
Anderson had a tough loan spell at FC Porto recently as he struggled to give a good account of himself as a part of their attack. The 28-year-old picked up one assist in ten matches for the Portuguese side in the previous campaign across all competitions.
Most of his appearances came as a substitute which explains why he only averaged 0.2 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per game in the 2020-21 Liga NOS season. Still, he deserves credit for distributing possession relatively well in the opposition half after making 77.8% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Anderson’s current deal with the Hammers comes to an end next summer, so David Moyes would have no choice but to cut him loose in this off-season or else risk losing him on a free transfer next year. At 28, the West Ham attacker needs a change of scenery so that he can re-establish himself as a top performer at the highest level.

Anderson looks like a shadow of his former self as he continues to struggle to earn regular playing minutes in top-flight. On his day, he can make some clever runs with the ball and is proficient at setting up a few decent chances for his teammates up top. However, those days have been few and far between for the Brazilian playmaker in recent seasons.
The Brasilia-born sensation’s career at East London is going nowhere, so it makes sense for Moyes to cash in on him ahead of the new campaign. The West Ham boss can use the money generated from Anderson’s potential sale to strengthen other areas of his squad.
The one-time Brazil international can even benefit from making a switch away from the London Stadium where he will be guaranteed more playing starts in the coming seasons. At the moment, Anderson is not playing well enough to rival Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma for a place in Moyes’ starting XI. Thus, the East London outfit should consider selling the Brazilian winger before the transfer window slams shut later this year.
