In a recent report, The Telegraph revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic this summer. It is understood that Spurs are eager to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season and have identified the Serbian striker as an ideal target for this summer transfer window (via The Telegraph).
Vlahovic’s Impressive Numbers At Florence Last Season
Vlahovic has made a real name for himself recently as he scored seven goals for the Florence outfit in a friendly win over Polisportiva C4 Foligno earlier this month. The 21-year-old also enjoyed a rich vein of form for the Italian outfit in the previous campaign when he put in several match-winning displays as the focal point of the Fiorentina attack.
The Serbian sensation netted 21 goals and provided two assists in 40 matches for his current club last season on all fronts. Vlahovic was a clinical finisher in the final third and deserves a pat on the back for averaging 2.3 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the 2020-21 Serie A campaign. However, he was a bit sloppy when linking up play with his teammates in the attacking end of the field based on his pass completion rate of 66.3% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
The way Vlahovic has been playing of late, it is no surprise that Tottenham have set their sights on the talented marksman as he has the potential to become one of the best strikers in European football as long as he can continue to improve his overall game with each season.
Will Vlahovic Be The Right Choice For Spurs This Summer?
Standing at 1.90m, Vlahovic can use his robust frame to dominate the opposition centre-backs in the air. He has a knack for finding space and is proficient at getting a few shots in on-target. The seven-time Serbia international has transformed himself into a lethal finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. However, he needs to find a way to improve his assists numbers if he wants to succeed at a big club like Tottenham in the coming seasons.
Vlahovic has taken great strides towards improving himself over the past 12 months but only time will tell whether he is good enough to maintain his high standards in the Premier League if Spurs manage to secure his signature in this off-season.
We can expect Vlahovic to add a lot of goals and some physicality to the Tottenham attack. If Nuno Espirito Santo and Daniel Levy can work together to keep Harry Kane at North London beyond this summer, the Fiorentina youngster could potentially go on to form a fruitful attacking partnership with the England international next season. Hence, Vlahovic could be a decent choice for the London giants to consider in this transfer window.
