In a recent report, Goal.com stated that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Everton forward Richarlison this summer. It is believed that Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti has reached out to his former player to discuss a potential move to Madrid during this summer transfer period (via Goal.com).
Richarlison’s Solid Campaign In English Football
It was another encouraging season for Richarlison at Goodison Park as he managed to find a good run of form for them while leading the line along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top. Ancelotti knows that player well from their time together at Merseyside, so Los Blancos’ interest in him is justified.
The Brazilian talent participated in 40 matches for the Toffees in the previous campaign, netting 13 goals and securing three assists in the process across various competitions. Richarlison worked hard for his team at both ends of the pitch after he averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.0 clearances, 2.4 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football last season. However, he needs to work on improving his accuracy when distributing possession in the final third, based on his pass completion rate of 70% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Merseyside club expires in the summer of 2024, so it would take a sizable offer from Real Madrid if they are serious about acquiring the Brazilian’s services before the start of the new season.
Should Ancelotti Snap Richarlison Up This Summer?
Richarlison has transformed himself into a decent finisher during his time with the Toffees. He was often unleashed as a striker last season but can also function as a winger on either flank if required. When the Brazilian attacker is playing with confidence, he can set up some inviting chances for his teammates to score up top.
However, Richarlison needs to improve his goal-scoring and assists numbers if he wants to win some major trophies in the coming seasons. Real Madrid would be an ideal destination for him as he will get a chance to do exactly that if he decides to reunite with his former boss Ancelotti this summer.
At 24, Richarlison’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a great fit for Los Blancos in the long run. We can expect the Brazilian goal-scorer to inject a lot of quality to Ancelotti’s first XI and he could also serve as a decent long-term successor to the injury-prone, Eden Hazard at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. All in all, Ancelotti should think about going all out to snap Richarlison up during this summer transfer window.
