The Telegraph has recently reported that Newcastle United are close to signing Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock on loan once again this summer. It has been revealed that the Magpies believe that they are inching closer towards sealing another loan move for the English midfield ace for the 2021-22 campaign (via The Telegraph).
Willock’s Impressive Loan Spell At Tyneside Last Season
Willock had a fantastic loan spell at St. James’ Park in the second half of last season when he caught the eye by scoring some important goals for the Tyneside outfit to get them out of relegation danger. The London-born sensation banged in eight goals in 14 matches for the Magpies in the previous campaign.
The 21-year-old managed to impress with his contributions at both ends of the field as he averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.4 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He even distributed the ball relatively well from midfield after completing 77.1% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
At 21, Willock has already shown plenty of encouraging signs on the field, so he will be an excellent acquisition for the Magpies even if it is on another loan deal this summer. He could once again help Steve Bruce’s side do well in league football and maybe even go on a long cup-run next season.
Newcastle Close To Signing Willock On Loan: Wise Move For The Magpies?
Willock is a moderately-paced midfielder who can make some clever runs with the ball in the opposition half. He can create some decent plays for others around him and has previously shown that he can score goals consistently when given the license to get forward and join in on the attack.
The English sensation is a player on the rise, so Bruce can expect him to perform at a high level if he can successfully get him on loan for the upcoming campaign. The talented youngster has also shown that he can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to disrupt the opponent’s flow in the game at the centre of the park.
Willock will fancy his chances of having another fruitful season with the Magpies, so it seems like a wise move for Newcastle to try and get him on board this summer. He will add more energy and dynamism to Bruce’s midfield department and could take great strides towards improving himself once again next season.
