Italy will lock horns with Spain at the Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night, hoping to pick up a positive result and progress into the finals of the Euro 2020 tournament. Luis Enrique’s side will be heading into the match on the back of a victory over Switzerland, whereas Roberto Mancini’s men recorded a thrilling 2-1 victory over Belgium in the quarter finals.
Luis Enrique will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation with a couple of tweaks from the last game as Dani Olmo and Jose Gaya look likely to make their way back into the starting eleven.
4-3-3 Spain Predicted Lineup Vs Italy
Defence
Unai Simon is expected to start in goal for the upcoming encounter. The Athletic Bilbao shot-stopper would be looking to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Tuesday.
Pau Torres will continue to form the centre-half partnership with Aymeric Laporte at the heart of Spain’s backline.
Cesar Azpilicueta is a guaranteed starter at the left-back position, whereas Jose Gaya is expected to replace Jordi Alba on the other flank as the left-back. The duo would be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.
Midfield
Having dropped a brilliant performance against Switzerland in the quarter-finals, Sergio Busquets might start in the holding midfield position and could be assigned with more of a defensive role to shield his side’s back-four.
Koke will slot into the central midfield role, whereas 18-year-old Pedri is expected to start in the attacking midfield position. The duo would be determined to set up some clear cut goal scoring chances for the front men.
Thiago Alcantara will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could come on to make a cameo appearance in the second half.
Attack
Dani Olmo and Pablo Sarabia will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right-wing respectively.
Alvaro Morata is expected to lead the line for his side against Italy. The 28-year-old striker would hope to get his name on the scoresheet when he faces off against the Italian defence that has conceded just two goals in their last five matches.
