According to The Sun, as cited by Manchester Evening News, Wolves have joined the race to sign Antonee Robinson. It doesn’t bode well for Manchester City, who have been primarily linked with the Fulham fullback, with Pep Guardiola keen on bolstering his options in the left-back department this summer. Robinson’s current contract at Fulham expires in 2024, but the defender might be on his way back to the top-flight.
Antonee Robinson: Player Profile
Antonee Robinson was initially signed by Fulham last summer for a fee of just €2 million. He was brought in to offer more quality in the left-back position, as the Cotaggers eyed survival after being promoted to the top-flight.
Robinson made 28 appearances in the Premier League, becoming a key figure in Scott Parker’s defensive line. Although he was a part of the defence that ended up amassing one of the least impressive records in the league, Robinson was the bright spark in an otherwise campaign for Fulham.
The former Wigan left-back showed signs of maturity in his game, proving to be a useful outlet out wide. His defensive contributions were particularly impressive, with the defender amassing 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1.9 clearances per game.
Robinson offered quality going forward as well, averaging one key pass per game and offering consistent support for teammates in the final third. It has now made him one of the most sought-after players from a relegated Fulham side, with Manchester City among the clubs ready to bring him back to the top-flight.

Is Robinson A Good Fit For Manchester City?
Despite the largely successful 2020/21 campaign, Manchester City could be in for a change in personnel in their defensive department. Benjamin Mendy, for one, is facing an uncertain future at the club after falling behind in the pecking order.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has done well, but he does favour playing in midfield. It leaves Pep Guardiola devoid of options at left-back, with Joao Cancelo being the viable one. As such, the addition of someone like Antonee Robinson could turn out to be a smart move for Manchester City.
The American international has significantly improved his game over the past 12 months. He can offer the right balance between attack and defence, whilst his pace, athleticism and aggression should make him a useful outlet in the second line of press.
Indeed, Guardiola can use Robinson either as a left-back or a left wingback, ultimately offering the Catalan with more tactical options at his disposal. And following Fulham’s relegation last season, the 23-year-old could be available for cut-price as well – potentially making him a bargain for the English champions this summer.
