In a recent report, The Athletic claimed that Liverpool have identified West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen as a summer target. It is believed that the Reds are hoping to bolster their attacking options for the new campaign and have set their sights on the English wide player in this off-season (via The Athletic).
Bowen’s Impressive Form In English Football Last Season
Bowen experienced an impressive campaign at the London Stadium as he put in a series of productive displays from the right side of David Moyes’ attack. The 24-year-old scored eight goals and secured six assists in 40 matches for the Hammers last season on all fronts.
The Leominster-born talent managed to impress a lot of the West Ham faithful by averaging 1.4 shots, 0.8 key passes, 0.8 crosses and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he was a bit sloppy when interchanging possession in the opposition half based on his pass success rate of 74.4% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Bowen is maturing into a top talent at the East London club, so the Reds will do well to engineer a move to bring him to Anfield this summer. He has got the energy and dynamism to be a success story under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp and could help bring more success to the red half of Merseyside over the next few years.
What Will Bowen Add To Jurgen Klopp’s Side?
Bowen is a real bundle of energy down the right flank and has got the desire to track back and help his teammates out defensively when needed. More importantly, he is an exciting dribbler with the ball and can cut open the opponent’s backline with an inch-perfect pass when he is playing well on the pitch.
The English wing wizard managed to contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the right-wing position. However, Bowen is yet to prove his worth in Europe which makes him a risky target for Klopp to pursue ahead of the new season.
We can expect the West Ham star to add some pace and a lot of energy to the Liverpool frontline. Bowen is good enough to serve as a decent backup to Mohamed Salah and could help the Reds challenge for multiple trophies in the coming seasons. Hence, Klopp should consider making a move to secure the services of the English speedster in this summer transfer period.
