In a recent report, AS revealed that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is dreaming of a move to Real Madrid this summer. It is believed that the Polish forward is keen on joining Los Blancos as he wants to spend the final years of his playing career at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium (via AS).
Lewandowski’s Sensational Form For Bayern Last Season
Lewandowski had another majestic campaign with the Bavarian giants as he produced plenty of match-winning displays as the focal point of Bayern’s attack. The 32-year-old banged in 48 goals and secured nine assists in 40 matches for the Munich outfit last season in all competitions.
The Warszawa-born talent proved his worth as a productive centre-forward by averaging 4.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the last edition of the Bundesliga. He even interchanged possession with his teammates quite well after completing 77.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Lewandowski’s current contract at the Allianz Arena expires in the summer of 2023, so Bayern Munich will be under no immediate pressure to cash in on him this summer. However, if Los Blancos can fund a big-money offer for the Poland international, they might have a good chance of landing him in this off-season.
Is Lewandowski The Right Choice For Los Blancos?
Lewandowski remains an ideal target man as he can lead the line on his own quite well in the final third. He is an unforgiving finisher in front of the opposition goal and excels at generating space for himself to get a few shots in on-target.
The Polish goal-getter can even chip in by picking up his fair share of assists up top. A complete centre-forward of Lewandowski’s experience and skillset will be an excellent addition to Real Madrid’s first team.
There is no doubt that the Poland international is still good enough to bring plenty of goals to Carlo Ancelotti’s frontline and would serve as an upgrade over Karim Benzema who has enjoyed a fantastic career at Madrid so far. At 32, he has shown no signs of slowing down and could still play at a high level over the next few seasons.
With all things considered, Lewandowski will be a brilliant choice for Los Blancos which is why Ancelotti should consider orchestrating a move to lure him to the Spanish capital before the start of the new campaign.
