In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Chelsea are eyeing a record-breaking move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer. It is understood that the Blues are willing to pay Є145m to acquire the services of the Norwegian striker during this summer transfer window (via Fichajes).
Haaland’s Excellent Form In German Football Last Season
Haaland had another terrific season at the Signal Iduna Park as he produced several match-winning performances as the chief centre-forward of the Dortmund attack. The 21-year-old banged in 41 goals and picked up 12 assists in 41 matches for the German outfit in the previous campaign across all fronts.
The Norwegian frontman enjoyed the responsibility of leading the charge at the Signal Iduna Park after he averaged 3.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. However, he was a bit untidy when linking up play well with his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty box based on his pass completion rate of 72.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Haaland is playing at a very high level and could add another dimension to Thomas Tuchel’s attack at Stamford Bridge. Hence, it is no wonder that the reigning European champions are eager to break the bank to bring the Norwegian talent to the English capital in this off-season.
Will Haaland Be A Dream Option For The Blues?
Haaland is a pacey and agile forward who loves to make some decent runs in behind the opposition backline. He has transformed himself into an unforgiving finisher in the final third and can even contribute by picking up his fair share of assists up top.
The 12-time Norway international is only going to get better and better with each season as he is an exceptional talent who has the potential to become one of the best strikers of his generation over the next decade. However, Haaland needs to improve his accuracy when interchanging possession with his teammates in the opponent’s half if he wants to improve his offensive numbers in the coming seasons.
The Dortmund sensation will be an automatic starter at Chelsea as he is already good enough to get the nod to feature for the Blues regularly ahead of Timo Werner, who has been far from prolific during his time the West London club. With all things considered, Haaland will be a dream option for Tuchel to pursue this summer as he could help the Blues maintain their stranglehold in Europe and even push Manchester City in the Premier League title race title next season.
