In a recent report, The Daily Express mentioned that West Ham United are showing interest in KAA Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk this summer. It is understood that the Hammes boss David Moyes is keen on bolstering his attacking options at the London Stadium and could make a move to recruit the Ukraine international in this off-season (via The Daily Express).
Yaremchuk’s Excellent Form In Belgian Football
Yaremchuk has been a consistent performer in the Belgian first division after he produced a run of goal-scoring displays as the spearhead of Gent’s attack. The 25-year-old has banged in 23 goals and secured eight assists in 43 matches for the Belgian outfit last season on all fronts.
The 25-year-old has been productive with his attacking contributions as he averaged 3.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Jupiler Pro League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball deep inside the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 80.2% in the Belgian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Yaremchuk is currently under contract at the KAA Gent Stadium until the summer of 2025, so it won’t be an easy task for West Ham to lure him to the English capital during this summer transfer window.
What Will Yaremchuk Add To David Moyes’ Side?
Yaremchuk is a quick and agile forward who can operate in any position across the frontline. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if needed. The 25-time Ukraine international has proven his worth as a consistent goal-scorer last season and is not afraid to work his socks off for the benefit of his team. He has also got the vision to create some meaningful openings for others around him in the final third.
Recruiting Yaremchuk this summer could be a shrewd move for West Ham as they are in dire need to add more quality to their attacking department. Plus, David Moyes can benefit from signing the Ukrainian attacker as he will serve as a good deputy to Michail Antonio who remains the Hammers’ only recognized senior forward. He could even go on to form a fruitful attacking partnership with Antonio at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 25, Yaremchuk is about to enter his prime, so Moyes can expect to get the best out of him if he can find a way to bring him on board this summer. We can expect the Gent star to add a lot of goals and creativity to West Ham’s frontline that might help them break into the Premier League’s top six spots next season.
