In a recent report, Sky Germany has offered an update on Liverpool‘s pursuit of Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman this summer. It is believed that the Reds are yet to make a concrete offer for the French wide player with the Bavarian giants unwilling to let him leave during this summer transfer window (via Sky Germany).
Coman’s Incredible Form In European Football
Coman gave a good account of himself for the Munich outfit in the final third as he produced several eye-catching displays for them out on the wide areas. The 25-year-old registered eight goals and 15 assists in 39 matches for Bayern last season on all fronts.
The French wing wizard was a joy to watch in Europe where he averaged 2.4 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.1 crosses and 2.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the last edition of the UEFA Champions League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half after completing 82.6% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).
Coman is still under contract at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2023, so there is no immediate need for the Bavarian club to cash in on him in this off-season. Hence, it would take a big-money offer from Liverpool if they intend to secure the services of the talented Frenchman this summer.
Should The Reds Launch A Move For Him This Summer?
Coman is blessed with blistering pace and can complete some dangerous dribbles with the ball out on the wide positions. He is always willing to take on his marker and can beat them off the dribble to create some decent chances for his teammates up top. The France international can also chip in by netting some important goals for his side in the final third. He is a good crosser of the ball and can keep the ball moving with ease in the opposition half.
A winger of Coman’s skillset would have been a massive coup for Liverpool as they need to add more firepower to their attack if Jurgen Klopp wants a strong squad capable of challenging for multiple trophies in the coming seasons.
Coman is already good enough to rival Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota for a place on the wings at Anfield. Hence, it makes sense for Klopp to launch a move to bring the French sensation to Merseyside during this summer transfer period. Even if Bayern refuse to sell him this summer, the Reds would be wise to lay down the groundwork over a potential deal for him in the future if the player refuses to pen a long-term contract at Munich.
