According to Viola News, Tottenham are interested in Bartlomiej Dragowski. The Fiorentina goalkeeper has become a hot topic in the Italian market as he braces himself for a move away from Florence. Although his future will only be decided after the arrival of the new coach, Dragowski is already being courted by Tottenham and Premier League rivals West Ham and Wolves.
Who Is Bartlomiej Dragowski?
A product of the Jagiellona youth academy in his native Poland, Bartlomiej Dragowski has had a certain degree of success since his move to Italy in 2016. He is not considered as one of the best in the league, but the Pole has established himself as a first-choice regular for Fiorentina, already notching up 77 competitive appearances.
The Fiorentina star initially had to prove himself during his short loan spell at Empoli during the second half of the 2018/19 campaign. Since then, he has managed to replace Alban Lafont quite well, becoming the club’s number one in between the sticks.
Dragowski made a total of 35 league appearances this past season, keeping eight clean sheets. His save percentage of 63% was well below league average, but the goalkeeper has become a hot topic in the market due to his tender age and the potential he offers on the table.
At just 23 and with an imposing 1.91m figure in between the sticks, Dragowski is perceived by many as one for the future. He is quite a strong characters owing to his large frame that allows him to cover a lot of area in goal as well as impose himself inside the box, especially when it comes to claiming set-pieces.
Is Dragowski A Good Option For Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper in the summer. The long-serving Hugo Lloris is nearing the final phase of his career and it won’t be surprising to see him depart the club soon.
This is where Bartlomiej Dragowski comes into the fray, having established himself as one of the rising stars in Florence. The Pole might not be among the best shot-stoppers in Italy, but he certainly has the potential to become one.
What makes Dragowski such an appealing target for Spurs is how comfortable he is in possession. Although his distribution can be erratic, he is quite skilled when it comes to spraying passes around. It might be a huge boost for the club, especially considering how vulnerable Lloris is with the ball at his feet.
Not to mention, the former Empoli shot-stopper has already gained a lot of experience at the highest level of football, unlike other young goalkeepers. And at the age of just 23, he can certainly turn out to be an ideal long-term replacement for Lloris.
