According to Fanatik, CSKA Moscow are keen on signing Ezgjan Alioski. The Leeds United star has emerged as a subject of interest for multiple European clubs including Galatasaray, Trabzonspor and CSKA, who have proposed €2.5 million per year terms for the player. Alioski’s current contract at Elland Road expires this summer, but the attacker will not decide his future until the end of Euro 2020.
Alioski’s 2020/21 Season In The Premier League
Ezgjan Alioski kickstarted the 2020/21 campaign with very few expectations. With Leeds United determined to improve their ranks last summer, the attacker was expected to play a bit-part role at the club.
However, fortunes favoured Alioski quite well, with the North Macedonian star emerging as a first-team regular. The lack of depth in the fullback department, combined with Stuart Dallas’ breakthrough in central midfield saw the 29-year-old become a regular in the left wing-back position.
Alioski ended the 2020/21 campaign with 36 Premier League appearances, helping Leeds United finish in mid-table, ahead of clubs like Wolves, Crystal Palace and Everton.
This summer, Alioski has been involved in UEFA Euro 2020 with North Macedonia. He even scored in the defeat to Ukraine, while starring in the opening fixture against Switzerland.
Should Leeds United Keep Hold Of Alioski?
There is no secret that Leeds United are on the hunt for new fullbacks in the summer, particularly on the left-hand side. It appears Marcelo Bielsa wants a more natural alternative in the left wingback slot – someone who can offer better defensive coverage.
It doesn’t bode well for Alioski, who might not be included in Leeds’ first-team plans next season. The club, however, need to try their best in keeping hold of the North Macedonian international, whose offensive prowess make him an excellent backup for Jack Harrison on the left-hand side.
Not to mention, very few players are better suited to Bielsa’s tactical philosophy than Alioski. The attacker also offers a lot of versatility in the final third that might be useful in helping the Argentine tactician rotate the squad if necessary.
As for the player, it would perhaps be wiser for him to move elsewhere, especially considering the fact that he can potentially play in Europe next season. Now it will be interesting to see whether or not he considers extending his contract at Elland Road this summer.
