In a recent report, Defensa Central has stated that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to recruit PSV Eindhoven right-back Denzel Dumfries this summer. It has been revealed that the Italian tactician wanted to sign the Netherlands international when he was the Everton manager and is now recommending his Los Blancos colleagues to move in for him in this off-season (via Defensa Central).
Dumfries’ Outstanding Season At The Philips Stadion
Dumfries has been a consistent performer for PSV at both ends of the field as he produced several eye-catching performances on the right side of their defence. The 25-year-old was involved in 41 matches for the Dutch outfit in the previous campaign, netting four goals and securing nine assists in the process across multiple competitions.
The Rotterdam-born sensation performed well to average 1.5 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 1.8 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 77.5% of his attempted passes in the Dutch first division (stats via whoscored).
Dumfries has taken great strides towards improving himself over the past 12 months, so he will be a good option for Los Blancos to pursue during this summer transfer window. He has what it takes to make an immediate impact at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season.
Should Los Blancos Get Him On Board This Summer?
Dumfries is a quick and agile full-back who can complete some energetic dribbles down the right flank. He is a decent defender at the back as well as he can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team. The 22-time Netherlands international is not afraid to clear the danger when needed and can also set up some promising chances for his teammates in the attacking third. He can even chip in by scoring the odd goal every now and then.
A quality right-back of Dumfries’ skillset will be a good acquisition for Los Blancos this summer as he will add a lot of quality to their first XI. Plus, Dumfries could serve an upgrade over Dani Carvajal who has been far too injury-prone of late.
All in all, Ancelotti should consider getting Dumfries on board soon if he wants to have a strong squad capable of challenging for multiple trophies in the coming seasons. The Dutch sensation is currently playing some of the best football of his playing career, so he will enjoy playing regular football at the Bernabeu if Real Madrid can snap him up this summer.
