Spain will lock horns with Croatia at Parken Stadium on Monday evening, hoping to pick up a win and progress into the quarter-finals of the Euro 2020 tournament. Luis Enrique’s men will be coming into the match on the back of a thumping 5-0 victory over Slovakia, whereas Zlatko Dalic’s men recorded a 3-1 win against Scotland. Luis Enrique will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation with a few tweaks from the last game as Pau Torres looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-3-3 Spain Predicted Lineup Vs Croatia
Defence
Unai Simon is expected to start in goal for the upcoming encounter. The Athletic Bilbao shot-stopper would be looking to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Monday.
Pau Torres will replace Eric Garcia to form the centre-half partnership with Aymeric Laporte at the heart of Spain’s backline.
Jordi Alba is a guaranteed starter at the left-back position, whereas Marcos Llorente is expected to replace Cesar Azpilicueta on the other flank as the right-back. The duo would be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.
Midfield
Having dropped a brilliant performance against Slovakia on Matchday 3, Sergio Busquets might start in the holding midfield position and could be assigned with more of a defensive role to shield his side’s back-four.
Koke will slot into the central midfield role, whereas 18-year-old Pedri is expected to start in the attacking midfield position. The duo would be determined to set up some clear cut goal scoring chances for the front men.
Thiago Alcantara will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could come on to make a cameo appearance in the second half.
Attack
Dani Olmo and Pablo Sarabia will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right-wing respectively.
Alvaro Morata is expected to lead the line for his side against Croatia. The 28-year-old striker has had an awful start to the campaign; however, he’d hope to turn things around by getting his name on the scoresheet on Monday.
Gerard Moreno could be brought on in the second forty-five minutes if needed.
