In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Bruno Andrade has revealed that Liverpool‘s interest in FC Porto starlet Fabio Vieira is increasing this summer. It is understood that the Portuguese attacker’s name is included in the Reds’ list of targets for this summer transfer window.

Vieira’s Rapid Rise In Portuguese Football
The 21-year-old caught the eye with his performances for Porto last season as he put in a couple of promising displays as a key member of their attack. Vieira has made 37 senior appearances for the Portuguese outfit so far, netting three goals and providing two assists in multiple competitions.
The Portuguese playmaker struggled to be consistent but did well to average 0.7 shots, 0.6 key passes, 0.7 crosses and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga NOS. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opposition half after completing 84.3% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese first division (stats via whoscored).
Vieira has already begun to show some promising signs back in his homeland, so he is undoubtedly a player to watch out for in the future. Liverpool need to bring in more talent to bolster their squad, so recruiting the Porto sensation will be a clever move for them as he has the potential to become one of the best players in his position someday.
Should The Reds Bring Vieira To Anfield This Summer?
Vieira is a moderately-paced midfielder who can make some clever runs with the ball from midfield. He has a decent passing range and excels at keeping the ball moving in the opposition half. The Portuguese whizkid can also contribute by scoring or creating the odd goal in the final third. Vieira is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger on either flank if required. However, there is no denying that he is still quite raw and would need time to hone his skills and taste success at the highest level.
Vieira will be a shrewd addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad and could add more depth to his frontline at Anfield. His ceiling is sky-high but the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football.
Even then, Liverpool should consider orchestrating a move to bring Vieira to Merseyside as he could grow into a future starter under the expert tutelage of Klopp. At 21, the four-time Portugal Under-20 international is a player on the rise and would have a great resale value in the future as well.
