According to Sport5, Arsenal are closing in on the capture of Manor Solomon. The Premier League outfit is currently in advanced talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a potential switch in the summer. It is believed that Solomon is already looking for houses in north London, hinting that the move might even be imminent.
Manor Solomon’s Rise To Prominence At Shakhtar
A product of the Maccabi Petah Tikva youth academy, Manor Solomon joined Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2019, for a fee of €6 million. After an initial slow start to his career in Ukraine, the winger has become a key component in the club’s attacking unit.
This season, in particular, Solomon has notched up 23 league appearances, scoring nine goals and registering one assist. Although he wasn’t a guaranteed first-team regular by any means, the Israeli international’s contributions in the final third have played a key role in helping Shakhtar finish second in the Ukrainian Premier League.
Solomon, in fact, was the club’s top scorer, impressing the onlookers with his quick feet and ability to take on the opposition defender. The winger is also blessed with an electric pace that makes him a scourge for the defenders on the counter.
It combines rather well with the player’s versatility, as he can operate on both flanks as well as in the number ten position, just behind the main striker.
Should Arsenal Invest In Solomon?
Solomon has shown what he is capable of during his time at Shakhtar Donetsk. His flair, pace and technical quality should definitely appeal to Mikel Arteta, as he hopes for attacking reinforcements in the upcoming summer transfer window.
That said, Solomon is yet to properly establish himself as a top player in the Ukrainian top division. This was, in fact, merely a breakthrough season for him, with the winger evidently lacking experience at the highest level of football.
An immediate move to Arsenal could, therefore, be a risk, as the player may find it difficult to settle into the physically oriented nature of the Premier League. In many ways, Solomon might be a huge gamble for the Gunners, who simply cannot afford to make a wrong move in the transfer market, due to the current financial climate.
It also remains unknown as to how much Solomon might cost, and so it is perhaps wiser on Arsenal’s part to set their sights on other alternatives this summer.
