As many of you may have seen by now, Billy Gilmour is now out of the final group match against Croatia after testing positive for COVID. This is the statement from SFA, ”The Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland National Team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Having liaised with Public Health England since the positive test was recorded, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s UEFA EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.”
Now, a lot of things are unclear. If I read the regulations clearly, all people in contact with him have to be tested (in this instance the entire English team and everyone in the Scottish team bubble). According to the newest regulations from the UEFA, if you test negative on RT-PCR tests, you are allowed to continue.
So, if all the players test negative, they should be allowed to continue. After all, that is exactly what happened when Joao Cancelo tested positive for COVID.
