Sozcu has recently reported that West Ham United are the joint frontrunners to sign Besiktas winger Cyle Larin this summer. It has been revealed that the Hammers, along with West Bromwich Albion, are leading the race to secure the services of the Canadian wide player at the end of this campaign (via Sozcu).
Larin’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football This Season
Larin is having a terrific season at Vodafone Park as he has put in several productive displays as a key member of Sergen Yalçın’s frontline. The 26-year-old has banged in 23 goals and provided six assists in 45 matches for the Turkish giants this term in all competitions.
The Canadian attacker deserves credit for influencing the ball in both halves after he averaged 0.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 2.1 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig this season. He has even distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 79.5% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Larin is currently playing some of the best football of his career, so West Ham can expect to get the best out of him if they can manage to get him on board during the summer transfer window.
Should David Moyes Snap Larin Up This Summer?
Larin can use his strong 1.88m frame to dominate the opposition centre-backs in the air and is a powerful runner with the ball in the final third. He excels at finding space for himself to get some shots in on-target and has transformed himself into a prolific presence in front of the opponent’s goal. Larin is a highly versatile player as he primarily operates on the left wing but can also play down the right flank or act as a centre-forward down the middle.
The Canadian wing wizard is growing into a top talent, which makes him a shrewd choice for West Ham head coach David Moyes to consider in this off-season. He will add plenty of competition for Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio for a regular starting spot in the Hammers frontline.
At 26, Larin is only getting started and could flourish playing in Moyes’ attacking brand of football at the London Stadium in the coming seasons. He will undeniably add more goals to the Hammers’ frontline and could give them a physical edge over the opposition up top. With all things considered, Moyes should think about snapping him up when the transfer window reopens next month as long as he is available for the right price this summer.
