JuveLive has recently provided an update on the future of former Leeds United target and current Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul. It is believed that the Italian club are willing to entertain offers of around €40m for their prized asset which could grab the attention of the Whites as they have tabled a €28m offer for the player in a failed attempt last summer (via JuveLive).
De Paul’s Excellent Numbers In Italian Football This Season
The Argentine sensation has produced a series of productive displays at the centre of Luca Gotti’s midfield and is having another encouraging season in Italian football. De Paul has registered nine goals and 11 assists in 37 matches for the Italian club this term across various competitions.
The Sarandi-born talent has been a consistent performer at the heart of the Udinese midfield as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 2.3 shots, 2.3 key passes and 3.4 dribbles per game in Serie A this season. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after making 79.7% of his attempted passes in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
The 26-year-old has transformed himself into a productive midfielder in Italian football, so he could still be a worthy target for Leeds United to pursue this summer. De Paul is a player on the rise and will only be going to get better in the coming seasons.
Should Marcelo Bielsa Rekindle His Interest On De Paul This Summer?
De Paul is a well-rounded midfielder who can do a bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a decent passer of the ball and can complete some energetic dribbles in the opposition half. The Argentine playmaker has also contributed by scoring or creating his fair share of goals from midfield. However, he might struggle to settle into Marcelo Bielsa’s playing style of high-intensity football at Elland Road.
Recruiting de Paul will undeniably be a brilliant signing for the Whites as he will add plenty of goals and assists to their midfield department. There is no doubt that the Argentine midfield ace is good enough to earn a regular starting place for the West Yorkshire outfit over the next few seasons.
All in all, it makes a lot of sense for Bielsa to rekindle his interest in the Udinese star as he could help the Whites compete for a major trophy in the years to come. At 26, De Paul ticks all the right boxes in terms of what it takes to be a success story in English football, so he could prove to be a massive coup for Leeds if they can bring him on board in this off-season.
