Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today as they hoped to pick up maximum points at home. Spurs made a strong start to the game and took the lead in the 45th minute when Harry Kane scored with a tidy finish. The North London outfit went into the half-time break one goal to the good.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg put daylight between the two sides when he scored in the 62nd minute. The contest ended with Ryan Mason’s men securing a comfortable 2-0 victory at the English capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player performed during the match against Wolves.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 7/10
The French keeper made some important saves during the game and secured an easy clean sheet at home.
RB: Japhet Tanganga – 7/10
He didn’t have to work too hard defensively but made a few encouraging runs down the right flank.
CB: Toby Alderweireld – 7/10
The Belgian centre-back dealt with the danger when needed and even made a good chance going forward.
CB: Eric Dier – 7/10
Dier made a couple of crucial clearances at the back and was quite composed on the ball. He was strong in the air and will be satisfied with the clean sheet today.
LB: Reguilon – 7/10
The Spaniard won a couple of aerial duels for his side. He was lively in the opposition half as well.
CM: Giovani Lo Celso – 7/10
The Argentine playmaker got stuck in with a few tackles and was a constant menace for the Wolves defenders in the final third.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 9/10
Hojbjerg managed to shield his teammates well and was a real threat in the attacking end of the field. He set up Kane’s opening goal before going on to find the back of the net himself in the second half.
RM: Gareth Bale – 8/10
The Welsh winger caused all kinds of problems for Nuno Espirito Santo’s defenders during his time on the pitch. He engineered quite a few decent openings for his teammates in the final third but will be disappointed for not getting his name on the scoresheet.
CAM: Dele Alli – 7.5/10
The English talent showed a lot of signs of promise with his performance in the opposition half. Still, there was no goal for him today.
LM: Heung-min Son – 7/10
The South Korean international created some excellent chances for others around him but didn’t get too many openings to register a goal.
ST: Harry Kane – 9/10
The English striker scored one but should have had a few more based on the chances he got today. He was excellent throughout the 90 minutes and was arguably Spurs’ man of the match.
Substitutes:
CM: Harry Winks – 6/10
He added some energy to the Tottenham midfield.
CM: Tanguy Ndombele – N/A
Ndombele hardly had any time to make an impact.
CM: Moussa Sissoko – N/A
He came on to run the clock down for Spurs.
