Rangers had to maintain their focus against Aberdeen prior to their title celebration. Steven Gerrard’s men have been thoroughly professional all season as they clinched a comprehensive 4-0 win to cross the 100-point mark and lift the coveted Premiership crown after decade-long despair.
Below are the Rangers players rated in their commanding win against Aberdeen.
Allan McGregor: 7
Returned between the sticks replacing Jon McLaughlin. The 39-year-old has been crowned the SPFL Premiership player of the year and he exhibited his stewardship between the sticks with yet another cleansheet, thanks to a couple of routine stops. Was fortunate though as Lewis Ferguson’s strike hit the woodwork from a close distance.
James Tavernier: 8
The skipper made an early impact when his strike took a big deflection before ending up into the back of the net via the Dons custodian Joe Lewis. Kept on whipping in crosses from the right-hand flank to cause menace in Aberdeen defence.
Connor Goldson: 7.5
Almost had his name on the scoresheet when he connected brilliantly to Tavernier’s cross but failed to guide his header on target. Maintained composure in the deep defensive line and did not allow the visitors to trouble McGregor enough in the Bears’ goal.
Jack Simpson: 7.5
Another steady display from the former Bournemouth centre-half who was in the right place at the right time. Made an array of no-nonsense clearances, also looked confident while playing it out from the back.
Joe Aribo: 7.5
Delivered once again in a makeshift left fullback role. Made timely recoveries by tracking back and tried to play his part in the attacking third with dribbling attempts, crosses and cut insides from the wide. Made way for Cedric Itten late in the match.
Steven Davis: 8
Proved his excellence once again with his tackles and tactical fouls to break down the Dons’ moves in the middle of the park. Kept the ball rolling from his central role and utilized his vision to dictate the tempo all throughout the contest.
Glen Kamara: 7.5
Played his usual game with never-ending runs, intelligent moves as well as technicality while operating as their chief ball carrier.
Ianis Hagi: 7.5
Delivered once again from behind the attacking third with his creative spark and energetic display. Set it up for Roofe to make it three moments before leaving the pitch to make way for Scott Arfield.
Kemar Roofe: 9
The in-form attacker netted a double similar to the Old Firm derby. He picked up Kent’s pass to make it 2-0 minutes over the half-hour mark and fired in once again after the break to cement a victory before lifting the title. Made way for Scott Wright midway through the second half.
Ryan Kent: 8
Unplayable with the ball at his feet, the Englishman tormented the Dons defence once again with his pace, flair and prowess. Did exceptionally from the left-hand flank while setting it up for Roofe to double Rangers’ lead. Made way for Greg Stewart midway through the second half.
Alfredo Morelos: 6.5
Played his part in a few build-ups, but the Colombian was mostly confined by the visitors while spearheading the Gers’ attack. Was taken off to be replaced by Jermain Defoe around the hour mark.
