If the report from the Peterborough Telegraph is believed to be true, Rangers target Siriki Dembele has not responded yet to the Posh’s lucrative contract offer. The attacker handed in a transfer request back in winter and is likely to reject the new deal in order to ply his trade elsewhere.
The Gers, however, are not alone in the hunt. Their bitter rivals Celtic, as well as the relegated Premier League trio Sheffield United, West Brom and Fulham, are also keeping close tabs on the player’s situation. His current contract expires next summer and the club, therefore, have put him on the transfer list to make a monetary profit over losing him for nothing in a year’s time.
“He’s got a year left on his contract and we’ve made him what we consider to be a lucrative offer – but there has been a lot of interest in him, and I don’t think he’ll sign a new contract with us. The club’s policy is if you’re in the last year of your contract, and the club offers a contract and you refuse it, we put you on the transfer list.”

The 24-year-old Ivorian-born Scottish professional has fired in 11 and laid on 12 more in 42 League One outings en route to the Posh’s promotion run. The Cambridgeshire side defied the odds by securing Championship football, but are facing a stern test to keep hold of their prized assets ahead of the upcoming campaign.
More Firepower In The Attacking Third
Rangers, the newly-crowned Scottish champions, have been spot on with their transfer strategy following Steven Gerrard’s appointment as the Ibrox chief. They have formed a formidable force with depth as well as quality but, at the same time, must keep on improving while competing against the Elite European outfits. Dembele might not be world-class, but his flexibility would see him challenge and cover the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent, Scott Wright and the latest recruit Fashion Sakala across the frontline.
The versatile frontman relocated to London to make a career in football before ending up in Govan at the age of 8. He did his schooling in Glasgow but never managed to attain senior football north down the border despite spells with Dundee United and Ayr United during his teenage days. A successful trial with League Two side Grimsby Town handed him a lifeline and the sheer dedication and hard work might reward him with a high-profile Glasgow return in due course of time.
