Arsenal will hope to continue their push for the European Conference League place as they take on Crystal Palace on Wednesday. It is going to be their final away game of the season, with the Gunners needing two wins in their remaining matches in order to give themselves a good chance of finishing inside the top seven by the end of the campaign.
Predicted Arsenal Lineup Vs Crystal Palace
Defence
After switching to a back three against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, Mikel Arteta is most likely revert to a back four this midweek. Pablo Mari is the favourite to be sacrificed, as the Arsenal manager looks to reinstate Calum Chambers in the right-back position.
It means Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding are set to occupy the central defensive roles, as they hope to retain another clean sheet that could go a long way in helping the Gunners secure all three points in this vital encounter.
Elsewhere, Kieran Tierney remains a guaranteed starter in the left-back position. His ability to switch to a centre-back role should offer Arsenal the ability to interchange between the back three and a back four in between the game.
Bernd Leno, meanwhile, is likely to get the nod ahead of Mat Ryan and Runar Alex Runarsson. He needs to end the campaign on a positive note in order to be in contention for Germany’s squad for the upcoming Euros this summer.
Midfield
Mohamed Elneny is a massive favourite to start once again, in the Arsenal double-pivot alongside Thomas Partey, especially with Granit Xhaka remaining a doubt heading into this game.
Elneny impressed the onlookers with a sturdy performance on the weekend, so it will be interesting to see how the Egyptian fares in this one. He will be aware of the fact that a strong finish to the campaign could save him from being offloaded in the summer.
Attack
The switch to a back four should prompt Arteta to make attacking changes to his setup. Bukayo Saka should be given the freedom to operate further out wide, due to the return of Chambers at right-back.
Martin Odegaard, on the other hand, could be in for a recall to the starting eleven, alongside Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, as these three hope to provide the supply for central striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this midweek.
